- Identify the nearest pucca (concrete) shelter or cyclone shelter
- Fully charge all mobile devices and power banks
- Fill all water containers - water supply may be disrupted for days

- Board up or tape glass windows to prevent shattering
During a Cyclone
- Stay indoors and away from windows, skylights, and glass doors
- Move to an interior room on the ground floor
- Do NOT go outside during the eye of the storm - the calm is temporary and winds will return suddenly
- Avoid using electrical equipment - unplug appliances to prevent damage from surges
- Listen to All India Radio or Doordarshan for official updates
- Stay away from the coastline - storm surge can travel several kilometers inland
- If in a kutcha (fragile) house, move to the nearest pucca shelter immediately
- Keep emergency kit, water, and torch within reach
After a Cyclone
- Do NOT touch fallen power lines - assume all downed wires are live
- Avoid wading through flood water - risk of electrocution from submerged wires and snake/scorpion bites
- Check for gas leaks - do not use open flame to inspect
- Boil all drinking water or use purification tablets
- Report damage to local authorities and SDMA
